I pull up to a local gym and run inside to let the owner know I am there and ask that she unlock the doors to her 2004, silver, Mercedes, C240. After gaining access to the interior and accomplishing the professional grade interior detail I set out to achieve, I exit the vehicle and begin work on the vehicle's exterior. The most noticeable aspect of any automobile to curious passerby's. That's when it happens. Every time. No matter how many times I have been to a location. One intrigued bystander greets me with an unsure smile and a question: "What are you using?"
What Am I Using?
It's a good question. What am I using?
In the simplest of terms, I am using environmentally sound, non-toxic, non-caustic, biodegradable chemicals that allow me to wash, wax, polish, seal, and protect without using large sums of water and leaving behind contaminated run-off that can seep into drinking water.
A more accurate answer would include the fact that our main exterior product is an emulsifier. Once sprayed onto your car, it lifts dirt and grime off of your vehicles paint and suspends it in a unique blend of lubricators, natural waxes, and hyper-surfactants.
Unfortunately, this leads to even more questions. Not all of them as easily answered. Here are my responses to some of the most frequently asked questions and concerns regarding our exterior products.
Does It Scratch The Paint?
No! Our products will not scratch your car's finish! In fact, the products we use on your automobile's paint are actually better for it than water and detergents. Water doesn't emulsify dirt. It simply moves it around. This causes micro scratches that dull your vehicle's finish! The products we use actually lift the dirt off the vehicle's paint so that it may be removed without moving it around! That means no scratches, no micro scratches, and no dulling of the paint!
What about heavy dirt or mud?
The chemicals and techniques we use work just as effectively on thick layers of mud and dirt! The one caveat is that the thicker the mud, the more product we have to use, and the more we need to charge to cover that extra expense. To prevent a hike in price, we request that you rinse the mud off of the vehicle prior to our appointment or agree to allow us to use a pressurized sprayer to rinse it away prior to us beginning our regular work.
Does it only work on paint?
No! The product we use on the exterior of the vehicle also works on your glass, plastic, undercarriage, engine bay (this is not a service we offer at the moment), and wheels.
Can you use it in the hot, direct, sunlight?
Yes! Unlike most substandard, waterless detailing systems, the products we use can be used in direct sunlight even at high temperatures.
What about the cold?
Yes! Our products will wash, wax, seal, and protect your vehicle's finish even during the winter months. Unfortunately, there is a difference between cold and freezing. It is not recommended that we detail anything once the temperature drops below 32.
Does it work on all cars? Any color?
Yes! All of our main products will deep clean any car of any color. However, for some of our more discriminating customers and customers with special, customized paint jobs we offer color and situation specific services for an additional cost.
